John "Jay" W. Jordan II

ACG Chicago is pleased to announce John "Jay" W. Jordan II will be awarded the ACG Chicago Lifetime Achievement Award on February 24th in the Preston Bradley Hall of the Chicago Cultural Center. Jay Jordan was one of the most influential and primary drivers of ACG in its earlier days of the organization applying his substantial network in addition to strong financial support. He is also one of the most successful private equity professionals with strong ties in the Chicago community.
He became a pioneer in the private equity business over his nine years at Carl Marks & Co., Inc. ("CM") beginning in 1972. Over that time, the partnership amassed a portfolio of approximately twenty-five companies doing in excess of $2.5 billion in sales volume.
In 1982, Jay left Carl Marks to form The Jordan Company ("TJC"), a private investment firm whose principal activity is acquiring companies for the partnership account. Since its formation, TJC has acquired approximately 100 platform companies and over 500 add on acquisitions with aggregate sales volume in excess of $10 billion. Today, the TJC portfolio numbers over twenty companies with approximately $5.5 billion in aggregate sales. Mr. Jordan currently serves as Chairman and Managing Principal of The Jordan Company.
Focused on the middle market, TJC initiated and closed The Resolute Fund in 2002, which is a $1.5 billion private equity fund. In December 2007 TJC closed Resolute II with $3.6 billion. TJC has approximately $6.0 billion of assets under management.
Mr. Jordan is active in a number of community/philanthropic activities. He has been a Trustee of the University of Notre Dame since February 1993, and currently serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Board, which oversees the $6.0 billion endowment. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Lyric Opera of Chicago and on the Board of Trustees of The Art Institute of Chicago and sits on the Executive Committee.
Mr. Jordan sits on over 40 public, private and philanthropic boards.
